A Newborn Photoshoot In Your Home - Pittsburgh
I recently had the honor of being invited into my client's home for my 4th shoot there in the past 2 years! It is such an honor to be trusted time after time to capture the baby years for them. It warms my heart!
We actually did the very first shoot 2 years ago in my studio for big sister, Robin's, newborn photos. Since then, I traveled to their home in Wexford to photograph her for her 7th month milestone, first birthday, and second birthday. And now, as part of her little sister, Hailey's, newborn photos!
For this particular shoot, we originally had it scheduled for my studio. But mother nature had other plans! The night before the shoot, a GIANT storm rolled through Pittsburgh and many areas lost power, including my studio. So when I got there the next morning for the shoot and realized that, I quickly texted them to see if they wanted to reschedule or if they'd rather me bring the shoot to them. We landed on the latter and I'm soooo glad we did!
And since we originally had this planned as a studio shoot, I went in with my flashlight and packed up the props I was going to use in studio. Since this was my 4th time shooting in their home, I was familiar with the layout and where the best lighting would be. I knew I could give them both the posed newborn photos to match Robin's and also a whole slew of authentic family moments as well!
When I arrived, I quickly swaddled Hailey while Robin played nearby. I started with photos of the baby while Robin got used to the idea of it, haha. From there, she slowly but surely took an interest and made for the cutest, most delicate, interactions together.
We started the shoot with baby all wrapped up and cozy
I always LOVE mom and baby photos at the window. Standing, sitting, it all looks so pretty and precious! The fleeting quiet moments in a stew of baby newness. And I really love how Robin came over to check it all out. She is sooo gentle with Hailey!
My favorite set of photos from the shoot!
After that, we gave mom and Robin a little break while I quickly posed Hailey in the props and wraps I brought with me. I love that I was able to make these look like they could be from my studio! And as a bonus, the sweet sweet family dog came and had a sniff. I love that I can include pets with in-home shoots!
These photos were captured in their kitchen but look like my studio images!
We then took Hailey back upstairs to the main bedroom. This is typically a good spot for photos that include toddler age siblings because they can be free to cuddle, jump around, and create real and beautiful moments. Another perk of the bed photos is that main bedrooms usually have some of the best available window light- very important for in-home photos!
Notice the bottom right image, which was the final image of the day. It was a request by mom to put Hailey in one of her bags, haha! I love this photo because it is so unique to their family story! And Hailey gave me the cutest eye contact and facial expression!
We finished with some photos on the bed and bassinet to complete the shoot.
This shoot took just about 1.5 hours and now they have authentic life-long family memories, captured in the comfort of their home!
I'd love to do the same for you! If you are interested in a shoot like this, send me a message! There are limited shoots available each month so it's best to book during your second trimester. The final date for the shoot is scheduled after you've given birth.
